1. About us

Beth Bakes Cakes is a sole trader run by Beth Wardley, trading from Unit 17 Rose Centre, Rose Avenue, Nether Poppleton, York, YO26 6RX. By placing an order with us you agree to be bound by these terms, which apply to the entire website and any communication between you and Beth Bakes Cakes.

2. Prices and payment

All products are subject to availability. Prices are shown in pounds sterling (GBP). Beth Bakes Cakes is not VAT registered, so no VAT is added. We may change prices at any time, but changes will not affect orders we have already confirmed. A minimum order value of £25 applies.

Payment is taken securely at checkout via Stripe and held until we confirm your order. For weddings and large event orders, payment terms are agreed with you before work begins.

3. Ordering

When you place an order you are making an offer to purchase, which we confirm by email once reviewed and accepted. We may refuse or cancel any order, including for availability, errors in pricing or product information, or suspected fraud. Custom and made-to-order cakes are reviewed by Beth personally before payment is captured. Please order celebration cakes at least 7 days ahead, and weddings or large event orders at least 4 weeks ahead.

4. Collection and delivery

Celebration cakes are collection only and free of charge; we confirm the collection address by email and arrange a time with you (collection is available Monday to Saturday, 10am–6pm). For weddings and large corporate orders we can deliver by arrangement, with the cost agreed on enquiry. Once a cake has been collected or handed over, responsibility for its safe transport, handling and storage passes to you.

5. Cancellations and refunds

Our cakes are freshly made, perishable goods produced to order, so they cannot be returned or exchanged once collected or delivered. Cancellations made more than 14 days before your date are eligible for a full refund. Within 14 days, cancellations are handled case by case, as ingredients will already have been purchased and work may have begun; any deposit forms part of that assessment. Please contact us as soon as possible if you need to cancel or reschedule.

Because our cakes are perishable and made to your specification, the 14-day cancellation right under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 does not apply to them. This does not affect your statutory rights: if there is a problem with your order — for example it is damaged, faulty or not as described — contact us as soon as possible and we will put it right with a replacement or a refund as appropriate.

6. Allergens and food safety

All our cakes contain gluten, dairy and eggs as standard, and everything is made in a kitchen that also handles nuts. We offer gluten-free and dairy-free options with advance notice and keep allergen information for our recipes. If you have a serious allergy, please contact us before ordering. Beth Bakes Cakes is registered as a food business and holds a 5-star Food Hygiene Rating. Cakes are best enjoyed within 5 days of collection.

7. Intellectual Property

All content on this website, including text, graphics, logos, images, and software, is the property of Beth Bakes Cakes or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

If you upload images or design references when ordering a custom cake, you confirm you are entitled to share them and you give us permission to use them to design and make your order. We may decline designs we are not able or permitted to reproduce.

8. Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded by law. Subject to that, we are not liable for losses that were not a foreseeable result of us breaking these terms, and our total liability in connection with an order is limited to the price you paid for it. These terms do not affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
